Australian captain Meg Lanning was dealt one of the unluckiest dismissals in the sport after she clipped the stumps with her bat on a Rajeshwari Gayakwad delivery that was put away for a boundary.
Lanning during tonight’s women’s T20 clash with India looked to move to 18 runs before her boundary that went for four runs was quickly taken away.
After a quick review, the 29-year-old’s night finished with 14 runs as she looked on in disbelief when walking to the boundary line, with replays on the big screen showing the moment her bat clipped the top of the stumps.
Lanning also became the first Australian to be dismissed hit wicket in T20Is.
“She would be devastated, she smoked that for four,” said former Australian cricketer Brad Hodge in commentary for Fox Cricket.
“It’s gone for four. The skipper, who was looking in great touch, has registered a boundary which will have to be removed.
“What a disaster for the skipper.
“That’s stiff. Unlucky for Meg Lanning. It was a pretty well-executed boundary.”

It was a moment that also left cricket fans stunned as viewers flocked to social media to react to Lanning’s unlucky dismissal.
