Bungie has finally announced that Destiny 2 is getting cross-play support in season 15, which is expected to start at the end of August. In a new blog post, Bungie revealed details of how players across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and even Stadia platforms will be able to play Destiny 2 together.
Destiny 2 Cross-Play Changes Player IDs to New ‘Bungie Name’
Bungie doesn’t want players to be segregated based on their platform of choice in season 15, and to make recognizing player names easy everyone’s name will be converted to a new ‘Bungie name’. Here’s how Bungie Names will work and look:
- “Bungie Name”: PlayerName#1234
- “Display Name”: PlayerName
- “Hash”: #
- “Numeric ID”: 1234
Bungie revealed that all player names will be filtered through a character filtration process and an offensive term moderation process. This means that certain special characters from player names may be removed. There won’t be a manual name change feature at launch, and an early version of the same will debut in winter.
