Tim Sheens has told the Wests Tigers he is ready to take on the clubs head coach role for 2023.
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting Tigers hierarchy sounded out Sheens about whether he was interested in returning to coaching a decade after he was sacked by the club.
It’s expected that should Sheens accept the role, the 71-year-old would be a short-term solution, while he mentors a younger coach to move them into the future.

The Tigers had been heavily linked to current Panthers assistant Cameron Ciraldo, who the club revealed turned down a five-year deal.
On Wide World of Sports’ Sunday Footy Show, Andrew Johns said there was talk among NRL circles of some kind of arrangement between Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall.

But the panel agreed current interim coach Brett Kimmorley would be a strong long-term replacement.
Greg Inglis suggested Kimmorley’s experience as the club’s NSW Cup coach would make him an ideal assistant coach under Sheens, before moving into the senior role.
“He’s seen these other guys come through because he was the coach of their NSW Cup side, so he knows those players. He knows these guys coming through.”
Sheens has been working in the Super League in England for a number of years and returned to Concord in a football director role this year.
He famously coached the Tigers to the 2005 NRL premiership.
