Denise Welch is gearing up to play Queen Elizabeth II on the stage and fans cannot cope.
The Loose Women presenter, 65, will be taking on the role of the late royal for one night only at the Eventim Apollo in London on December 4 as part of the upcoming show Diana: The Musical.
Set in 1996, the musical will see a newly-divorced Diana, played by Kerry Ellis, reflect on her past as she looks back on her 19-year-old self (Maiya Quansah-Breed) who captured the nation.
‘The dazzling and devastating life of Princess Diana takes centre stage in this original musical by writers David Bryan and Joe DiPietro,’ the bill teases.
Denise is following in the footsteps of industry giants Dame Helen Mirren and Olivia Colamn who previously played Queen Elizabeth II in prestigious projects.
Dame Helen swept the boards at awards ceremonies for her role in The Queen, winning both an Oscar and a Bafta award for her portrayal.
Meanwhile, Olivia received a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her take on her majesty in the Netflix series The Crown.
Fans are already going wild for Denise’s upcoming stage performance, with one exclaiming: ‘QUEEN DENISE WELCH PLAYING ACTUAL QUEEN ELIZABETH IN A MUSICAL OMG SLAY!!’
‘Denise Welch playing the Queen in the Diana musical is actually brilliant,’ another raved.
A third simply said: ‘Omg utterly obsessed with this.’
Just last month, Denise revealed she is taking a break from Loose Women as she’s preparing to go on a ‘little adventure’ with her husband Lincoln Townley.
It comes amid reports that she’s been signed up for the latest series of Hunted.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, she said: ‘I’m going off on a little adventure for a couple of weeks so I’m going to be off here and off my phone.
‘I don’t quite know how I’m going to cope, but I’m going to give it a try, so don’t think I have disappeared.
‘It’s just a temporary little holiday and I’ll be back soon, so lots and lots of love.’
