Next year, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine are finally starring in their own movie together.
Both Fox movie X-Men characters are set to enter the MCU next year in the currently untitled Deadpool 3.
Rumours abound that it’ll be a multiverse-traversing time travel movie, a theme that is currently all the rage in comic book movies following the likes of The Flash and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse this summer.
Jackman has promised that his Wolverine from 2017’s Logan will stay dead, so presumably he’ll be playing a variant in a story that one previous leak claims sees the unlikely duo square off against the Time Variance Authority seen in Loki.
Now more Deadpool 3 details have been shared by trusted and proven Marvel leakers.
According to MyTimeToShineHello: “Deadpool 3 is very similar to Multiverse of Madness. Different versions of our heroes, multiversal cameos, and… other stuff that I can’t say yet.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced variants of Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer, plus other Marvel heroes in the Illumanti which included Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and John Krasinski’s Reed Richards. There are already plenty of rumours of Deadpool 3 being a Spider-Man: No Way Home for Fox X-Men characters and maybe even the original Fantastic Four.
Meanwhile, CanWeGetSomeToast claims that we’ll also be seeing multiple variants of Deadpool and Wolverine.
The scooper shared: “You’re right there aren’t JUST 2 Deadpools, there are MORE… Deadpool isn’t the only character getting multiple variations. We’re also going to get at LEAST one other Wolverine in #Deadpool3.”
CanWeGetSomeToast also commented on Logan director James Mangold’s comments that once upon a time a Deadpool and Wolverine team-up movie would have been Midnight Run or 48 hours: “Funny he says that because it is.”
Both those movies are buddy action comedies so that’s sounds like the vibe they’ll be going for.
Deadpool 3 hits cinemas on May 3, 2024.
