DC’s Dark Crisis and a Wonder Woman Coronation Lead Next Week’s Releases

The road to Dark Crisis begins with a special issue on Free Comic Book Day, while Nubia is celebrated as the Queen of all Amazons.

Dark Crisis arrives next week for DC Comics.

For Free Comic Book Day, readers can pick up a copy of Dark Crisis – Special Edition #0, a precursor to the upcoming event helmed by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Daniel Sampere. The event spins out of “The Death of the Justice League” in Justice League #75, which killed off the entire Justice League save for one member after the team tried to stop Pariah and the Great Darkness. Dark Crisis will explore a DC Universe without these mainstay heroes and how their legacies will step up to handle a crisis of their own. The free issue will be written by Williamson with art from Sampere and Jim Cheung, though there will also be regular DC releases to purchase next week as well.

On Tuesday, Wonder Woman fans celebrate the coronation of Nubia, Queen of the Amazons. Before she joined the Justice League and was later killed in Trial of the Amazons, Queen Hippolyta passed the crown to Nubia in Infinite Frontier #0, and her story continued on in Nubia and the Amazons from writers Vita Ayala, Stephanie Williams and artist Alitha Martinez. Following the conclusion of Trial of the Amazons is Nubia: Coronation Special #1, a one-shot that celebrates the hero as the queen recognized by all three Amazonian tribes. The event features the work of Nubia and the Amazon‘s aforementioned creative team, as well as artists Jill Thompson, Becky Cloonan, Darryl Banks, Marguerite Sauvage and Nikolas Draper-Ivey.

Other notable mentions for Tuesday include the final issues for One-Star Squadron, Suicide Squad and World of Krypton. The full list of releases can be found alphabetically below, covers and solicitations included.
