Danny Miller’s famous dad you never realised is as popular as him

Emmerdale star Danny Miller has fast become one of the favourites to win the whole show since he started his I’m a Celebrity journey this week.

He’s already got stuck into his first eating challenge, knocking back some seriously nasty sounding food to win dinner for his campmates.

But, what fans of the reality show might not realise is that Danny, 30, has a dad just as famous as he is.

This is because the actors father is Vince Miller, a well known Manchester entertainer and personality known as the ‘king of comperes’, the Manchester Evening News reports.

He was even the host of Manchester United’s VIP lounge at Old Trafford for 29 years and counts Sir Alex Ferguson amongst his good friends, despite being a Man City fan!

As part of his job he’d regularly interview and chat to Sir Alex and other United legends on matchdays for those enjoying the hospitality boxes at the stadium.

The singer and comedian worked with Johnny Mathis, Shirley Bassey, and gave the eulogy at comedian Bernard Manning’s funeral.

In March 2017 Vince, from Stockport, hit the headlines when he was forced out of his role as a VIP host after putting his arm around a waitress and calling her “love”.

It led to a huge outpouring from the public, friends and former players in support of him.

In May that year he announced his retirement, at the age of 82 and after an incredible 65 years in the entertainment business, at a glittering charity fundraiser organised by his actor son.

He revealed the news on stage at the Once Upon A Smile charity ball at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.

He said: “It’s been a great journey, I’ve been critical of people who go on too long, so last night was my last night hosting an event, it was an emotional brilliant night and it’s nice to know that you’re appreciated.”

Danny paid tribute to his dad, calling him “the best host in the business”

The dad-of-nine told the Manchester Evening News at the time: “I’ve no upset about it, the time is now to get out while you’re on top, you don’t want people saying ‘not him again’!

“I’ve had a great career, I’ve done it all as a presenter, comedian, singer, I’ve been very fortunate.

“As Edith Piaf said, Je Ne Regrette Rien, no regrets!”
