Dan Campbell offers uplifting compliment on Lions roster: ‘There’s no turds here’
The latest Dan Campbell quote is mmm, mmm, good.
If you haven’t been following the Lions head coach this offseason, he has delivered unsolicited quote after hearty unsolicited quote that make some fans roll their eyes, other fans want to run through a brick wall and media members drool at the sight.
Campbell has let rip a few instant-classic quotes: First, his infamous knee-cap introductory press conference, then his request to have an actual lion at training camp, and plenty in between.

Now, the neophyte head coach wants you to know that his roster is devoid of, well, crap:
“I said this when I walked in: There was a number of guys that were here and I think (Matt) Patricia and (Bob) Quinn did a great job of — there’s no turds here,” Campbell said (via USA Today). “There’s no bad guys.
“Like, these guys work now. We don’t have guys, ‘Ah, I’m lazy.’ We don’t really have those guys and that’s a good thing. That’s not always the case when you walk in and it hasn’t been a successful program.”
“Turd” comment aside, Campbell did have some nice things to say about his roster, which is encouraging, considering that he’s walking into the smoldering ashes of a Lions squad that went 5-11 and led to the ousting of Patricia and Quinn.
The restroom theme of Campbell’s quotes isn’t exactly new. Earlier in the offseason, he vowed not to wipe the butts of his players.
Still, the Lions have a lot of work to do entering the 2021 season, with a new-look coaching staff, quarterback and front office, so the situation is going to be a lot more than just polishing a … well, you get the idea.
