Colorado boasts one of the most beautiful small towns in the U.S., says Travel + Leisure

Coloradans know and love Palisade for its fertile grounds that produce the state’s most succulent peaches and some of its best wine. Those attributes are what recently earned the Western Slope town acclaim as one of the most beautiful small towns in the United States.

That’s according to Travel + Leisure, which spotlighted 20 destination-worthy places with populations of less than 20,000 people. Palisade ranked No. 4 on the list, lauded for its “blossoming orchards, lavender fields, and acres of vineyards,” the pub said. For those who go, a local expert recommends exploring the Fruit & Wine Byway, a route for cyclists and cars to hit many of the food and beverage purveyors based in the area.

For those who weren’t already sold on the abundance of edible offerings, the magazine paired its praise with a photo of a person on horseback against the backdrop of Mount Garfield (also pictured above). Yeah, we’re sold.

Palisade is just the most recent locale to get a shout-out from a national publication. Last month, the New York Times promoted Grand Junction as one of 52 places to visit in 2023, while late last year, readers of Condé Nast Traveler voted Aspen the second-best small city in the U.S.

The Washington Post has celebrated Telluride for its hygge vibes. And both were deemed among the best ski towns on the continent by USA Today.
