Co-op makes urgent tuna recall warning customers it may contain pieces of metal

Tuna is being pulled from the shelves after it was found it could ‘contain pieces of metal’, according to The UK Food Standards Agency. The Agency alerted consumers in a May 31 notice that Co-op recalled two different tuna products after the hazard was discovered, making them unsafe for consumers to eat.

The Co-op has recalled it Co-op Tuna Chunks in Sunflower Oil and Co-op Tuna Chunks in Springwater. The Tuna Chunks in Sunflower Oil (3x145g) have a best before date of August 31, 2026, and the Tuna Chunks in Springwater (3x145g) have a best before date of August 31, 2024.

Do not consume the tuna if you’ve bought affected tins due to the health risks of ingesting pieces of metal. Instead, return any affected products to any Co-op store and you’ll receive a full refund, The Food Standards Agency advises

If you’ve bought a product that’s been recalled, you have the right to a refund thanks to the Consumer Rights Act.
