IF YOU’VE EVER needed to launch the voice recorder app on iPhone, chances are you’ve needed to do it quickly.
Whether it’s capturing what someone’s saying before they finish or recording your own reminders before you forget, opening this app fast is paramount.
Users will therefore be pleased to know that there’s a hidden iPhone gesture that launches the Apple Voice Memos app instantly with just the swipe of a finger.
Add Voice Memos to your Control Centre
This nifty feature is ideal for people such as students looking to record their teachers’ presentations, or journalists recording interviews
It means less messing around having to find the app in your apps’ folders and open it from there.
To do it, all you have to do is make sure the Voice Memos app is installed on your phone.
If you previously deleted it you can download it again, for free, from the Apple App Store.
Once installed, you’ll need to add it to your Control Centre, where you’ll then be able to access it more quickly going forward.
Control Centre is the tile you conjure by swiping up from the bottom edge of any screen and gives you access to the iPhone features you use the most.

Here you can instantly turn on WiFi and Bluetooth, take a photo, or – in this case – quickly start recording audio.
To add the Voice Memos app to the Control Centre, head to your iPhone’s Settings app, find and select Control Centre.
Under Voice Memos tap the green + button and it will add it to the control centre.
You can then drag and drop where you’d like the Voice Memos shortcut to appear in the ‘Included Controls’ area.
Now, any time you need to launch a voice recording you can do so with the flick of a finger – swipe from the bottom of your screen and tap on the voice memo icon.
