Classic Ford RS2000 up for sale at auction – retro racer set to fetch HUGE price
An iconic Ford Escort RS2000 in immaculate condition is up for sale – and it could go for an eye-watering price.
The racy RS has undergone a complete restoration and is going under the hammer with a guide price of £30,000 to £40,000.
Originally leaving the Ford factory in 1978, the RS2000 has since covered a little over 54k miles, but you’d never think so judging by the amazing condition of the car both inside and out.
And car nuts will be thrilled to see the RS finished in classic Diamond White paintwork, with all the correct badging, pinstripe decals and original rear spoiler.
A quick look at the cabin reveals that the refurb didn’t just cover the exterior, either.
Amazingly, the black cloth seats look almost brand new, as does the carpet and headliner.
The engine bay appears to be in great nick, too, while there are modern disc brakes fitted at the rear – just one of a few subtle upgrades over the original setup.
Bonhams Cars Online, who are handling the sale, said: “Because, standard cars are where the long-term value is and given how well sporting Fords performed over the past few years, our guide price of between £30,000 and £40,000 seems very reasonable for what might just be the nicest RS2000 on offer in the United Kingdom today.”
With the auction finishing on May 31st, there’s plenty of time to meet the reserve price, while interest from fast Ford fans could see the final price go much higher.
