Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Adds Josh Peck From the Popular Nickelodeon Sitcom ‘Drake and Josh’

Following the release of Tenet last year, director Christopher Nolan’s next project is based on the life of American physicist Robert J. Oppenheimer, who helped create the atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project.

The titular character of Oppenheimer will be played by Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, who will once again portray a role in another Nolan flick following Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy, and Dunkirk.

However, Murphy isn’t the only A-list actor in the roster as the cast also includes stars like Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan and more.

Moreover, Variety recently reported that Drake and Josh star Josh Peck will also be joining the stacked cast as Kenneth Bainbridge, a scientist who worked on the Manhattan Project along with Oppenheimer.

Following his success on the popular Nickelodeon sitcom, Peck has been on a roll with him recently starring in the Disney+ continuation of the 1989 Tom Hanks flick, Turner and Hooch.

He has also been quite the online celebrity, as he has garnered a massive following through his YouTube channel, where he has posted vlogs featuring several of the platform’s stars like David Dobrik and more.

Peck’s character is another name added to the list of people that have had a major hand in the Manhattan Project. This includes director Leslie Groves Jr and founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss, who will be played by Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr., respectively.

Moreover, Josh Hartnett will portray nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence and Benny Safdie will play the role of theoretical physicist Edward Teller in the epic Nolan blockbuster, which will be produced by Universal Pictures.

Oppenheimer will release in theatres worldwide on July 21, 2023.
