Charlton has it all – from a Unesco World Heritage site to the football club

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has so much to offer that residents are often reluctant to move out when buying their first or subsequent home.

There’s the river, the parks, the history, the architecture and the Unesco World Heritage site, not to mention the great schools, fast transport links, shops, pubs and clubs.

But while property in high-profile central Greenwich and Blackheath comes at a price, Charlton is still comparatively good value.

It’s a friendly, community-minded place with an abundance of attractive Victorian terraces, an increasing number of new-builds, its own park, one of the country’s finest Jacobean houses, an outdoor lido and, of course, Charlton Athletic football club.

Trains go to four London terminals and all the way to Luton, or you can jump on the Elizabeth line at Woolwich.
