Charles pictured in ‘fear’ but it ‘amused Camilla’ – expert claims

King Charles is typically very poised and unflappable, rarely caught flustered. However, body language expert Judi James claimed there was one instance where the monarch was “caught off guard”.

According to the body language expert, the Royal Family are a cool and collected bunch.

However, they can “lose their cool” from time to time, just like the rest of us.

Judi James stated: “Royals are famously stoic and unflappable in public but every so often we get a glimpse of a different side to those traits when they are caught off-guard, showing a very alternative set of body language responses.”

The body language expert claimed that Charles momentarily lost his cool in New Zealand nearly a decade ago.

In November 2015, Camilla and Charles took a 12-day tour visiting seven regions in New Zealand and three states and one territory in Australia.

On November 5, the royal duo visited the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, where Charles held a tuatara – a reptile endemic to New Zealand.

Things were going “quite well” and the then Prince Charles was fine holding the tuatara, until another little creature got involved.

Judi explained: “Charles is a man who never seems to show fear, except on this occasion when he had a tuatara and a bumblebee to grapple with.

“He and Camilla were on a tour of New Zealand and Australia when he agreed to get hands-on with the lizard and he seemed to be doing quite well until a bee flew into his jacket just as the lizard decided to make a break for freedom.”

Charles was pictured with his mouth wide open as he learned to one side, trying to keep hold of the tuatara.

Camilla was snapped laughing next to her husband, grinning and giggling as she watched him.

Judi continued: “Open-mouthed in shock, Charles looked uncharacteristically wrong-footed here, which seemed to amuse Camilla greatly.”

She said: “Both the couple’s body language suggested off-the-scale levels of both on the night in 2010 that their car was attacked by protesters en route to the Royal Variety Show.

“We can see both Charles and Camilla’s mouths open in shock and fear here, and Charles clutching Camilla’s fingers in what looks like a bid to reassure her.”

The expert said that one account said that “Camilla later lay on the floor of the car while Charles sat bravely in his seat, waving”.

Another shot suggests that Camilla instinctively went to “protect” her husband by outstretching an arm in front of him.
