She retweeted a message posted by Adele, which read: “Brb [Be right back].
“Ok, there’s no easy way to do this and it feels weird, especially posting on social media (I’m going full Black Mirror but I’m hoping it’ll reach anyone who might benefit from seeing it or reading it.”
Adele accompanied the post with a photo in a hospital gown alongside a poster listing the symptoms of bowel cancer.
Charlene replied: “Sending you so much love Adele, and to your family.
“Whereas with me, at some point in time, I had to become at peace with the fact that she was no longer here. Being angry about it, from my personnel, it didn’t achieve anything?”
The star went on to explain to MailOnline that she just wanted to make her parents proud.
“So before she went, she knew that I was on the path that I had wanted for so long and I feel very blessed that I was able to give that to her before she left,” she added.
The newsreader previously revealed how her mother was in the hospital all the time across her late teens, with her having to step up to help out with her younger siblings.
Adele detailed the news of her diagnosis via her social media account and admitted it all “happened so quickly”.
The broadcaster explained that she had been having issues with her digestion and after a conversation with her dad she visited her GP.
She said: “After a few phone calls, I was sent for some examinations and checks. I was then diagnosed with bowel cancer. This was at the start of the month.
“It’s all happened so quickly and I’m so sorry to post something like this on here but I hope it helps anyone who might be worrying or suffering in silence. “PLEASE make sure you get checked out if you have ANY concerns.”
Adele first found fame when she took part in the third series of Big Brother in 2002 alongside fellow housemates Jade Goody, Alison Hammond and eventual winner Kate Lawler.
