Channel 4 to show Emma Raducanu US Open final tonight as Amazon allow share

Emma Raducanu’s US Open final against Leylah Fernandez is set to be broadcast live on Channel 4 on Saturday evening. Amazon today announced that it will share its live coverage of the women’s singles final in the UK on both Prime Video and Channel 4, to give Raducanu and British women’s tennis the highest level of exposure. The 18-year-old, who has been on a sensational run at Flushing Meadows, is bidding to become the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade in 1977. The build-up will begin on Prime Video at 8pm BST, with the same coverage available on Channel 4.

Amazon had already agreed a highlights deal with BBC Sport for a programme that will air on Sunday afternoon before Channel 4 seized the opportunity to secure the live rights in a major boost for British tennis fans.

And in a released statement, Amazon said it would be reinvesting all fees from the agreement back into the sport.

“Prime Video has significantly invested in tennis in the UK since 2018, following the deal for Prime Video to exclusively broadcast over 300 ATP and WTA World Tour events through to 2023,” they said.

“Today, Prime Video confirmed that it will increase that investment by reinvesting all fees from the agreement with Channel 4 into British women’s tennis to ensure that her success helps to develop the next generation of British female tennis players.

Today’s announcement means a far larger audience can watch an historic final, with Raducanu the first qualifier to ever reach this stage at Flushing Meadows.

Her and Fernandez, herself unseeded, will also contest the first all-teenage Grand Slam final since Serena Williams beat Martina Hingis at the same tournament in 1999.

At 8pm BST, the pre-match build up will come from the Prime Video studio with Catherine Whitaker, Greg Rusedski, Daniela Hantuchova and Anne Keothavong.

The first serve is due to take place at 9pm on Prime Video, and now Channel 4, with match commentary from Mark Petchey, Martina Navratilova, as well as Tim Henman courtside and Jim Courier providing analysis from Flushing Meadows.
