Celebrating Easter: How to fully experience it. – Alvaro Rodriguez, Whitgift School

An important part of Easter is Easter eggs. Easter eggs have been associated with Easter for decades and they are one of the first things that come to mind when you think of Easter. By decorating Easter eggs, you can have fun while decorating them and be proud of what you’ve made. All you have to do is hard boil an egg and then spend some time decorating it with dyes or paint until you feel satisfied with the result. Some games you can play with your decorated Easter eggs are the traditional Easter egg hunt or egg rolling (where you roll eggs down a hill on Easter).

Another key part of Easter is the traditional Easter meals. For example, roast lamb is commonly eaten on Easter alongside servings of potatoes or asparagus, as lamb is a traditional dish served during Easter because of its strong cultural background and religious significance. In addition, hot cross buns are also traditionally eaten during Easter.

Linking back to my previous two statements, Easter eggs, hot cross buns and roast lamb are all important because of the religious significance they hold. For example, to Christians, the roast lamb signifies how Jesus sacrificed himself for humanity and took the punishment for our all sins. Even if you aren’t Christian, it’s still important to remind yourself of the true meaning behind Easter and what it means for Christians across the world.

There are still many more activities you can take part in across the world to celebrate Easter such as Easter festivals like the ‘Bessières’ Fête de l’Omelette Géante’. Keep in mind these are just some of the ways Easter can be celebrated, and you don’t have to feel obligated to do all these activities mentioned just to have the ‘perfect Easter’. After all, Easter is also a time to relax and unwind and by just taking it easy, you are already enjoying Easter fully, your way.
