CDPR Refrains From Sharing Updated Cyberpunk 2077 Sales

Polish developer and publisher CD Projekt Red has refrained from sharing updated Cyberpunk 2077 sales.

Yesterday, CD Projekt Red shared its most recent financial results for the 1st quarter of its current Fiscal Year (FY23) and provided updates on global sales of the Witcher franchise. As shared by CDPR, Witcher 3 sales have now surpassed 50 million copies worldwide, and sales of the franchise as a whole have exceeded 75 million copies. Impressive statistics for sure. Interestingly, however, no sales updates on Cyberpunk 2077 were provided in the shared presentation slides, and during the company’s conference call with investors, CDPR’s Senior VP of business development, Michal Nowakowski, also avoided the question about the game’s sales.

During the conference call, Bloomberg asked about sold copies worldwide, but Nowakowski said that updated sales data will be shared when a new threshold is reached. Bloomberg asked, “You gave total number of Witcher 3 sales. What can we say about copies of Cyberpunk sold? Still, no next large level reached?

CDPR’s Senior VP of business development answered (via Seeking Alpha), “So, when it comes to that question, I mean, we have announced the new thresholds of The Witcher 3. And when we’ll have a next round of thresholds of Cyberpunk we’ll share the news as well. So I’ll leave that as an answer.”

Of course, this doesn’t directly mean that Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t been selling well ever since reporting global sales last year, and it could just be that CDPR wants to have The Witcher franchise have the spotlight for now. Also, it should be noted that earlier this year, it was reported that the main driving factor for CDPR’s revenue last year, actually came from Cyberpunk 2077 sales, which were up 2021 (year-on-year).

No new sales figures for Cyberpunk 2077 have been shared since last year when CD Projekt Red revealed that the game sold over 20 million copies across all platforms globally.

We’ll update you as soon as more information about Cyberpunk 2077 and its upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion will come in. For now, stay tuned.
