Billie Lourd has revealed she plans to continue a tradition of her late mother Carrie Fisher’s on the final day of this year’s Star Wars Celebration.

The four-day recurring event, first held in 1999, is a fan gathering to celebrate the popular franchise, which also sees many celebrities and Star Wars actors take part in panels and meet and greets alongside other experiences.

Fisher, who died in December 2016 aged 60, played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy.

She had last attended Star Wars Celebration just a few months prior to her death in July 2016, which took place at the ExCel centre in London.

Taking to Instagram ahead of Sunday’s final day of the 2022 Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California, Billie shared a photo of a bag of glitter with a sticker of cartoon Princess Leia on the front in her iconic white dress and space bun hairstyle.

‘My Momby used to throw glitter on people when she went to Star Wars celebration so I’m carrying on the family tradish tomorrow by passing out little bags o’ Leia glitter!!!’ The American Horror Story actress captioned the photo.

‘See y’all there!!!’ she added.

The fist Star Wars Celebration since April 2019, Billie’s bags of glitter will no doubt become a prized possession of any fans lucky enough to get their hands on them.

Billie also has a strong connection with the films and the character of Leia herself, having appeared as Lieutenant Connix in the new trilogy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

For 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, Billie also acted as body double for a young version of Leia with her face replaced using CGI of her late mother.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 has also treated fans to glimpses of several upcoming projects including the third season of The Mandalorian, plus Andor and Ahsoka.

Jude Law has also been announced as making his Star Wars debut in Jon Watts’ upcoming spin-off series for Disney Plus, Skeleton Crew.
