The St. John’s skip beat Sweden’s Niklas Edin 9-1 in a qualification game at TD Place in Ottawa.
Scotland’s Bruce Mouat will play the winner of the qualification game between Norway’s Magnus Ramsfjell and Italy’s Joel Retornaz.
Semifinal winners will play for gold Sunday afternoon while the losing teams will play for bronze in the morning session.
Edin beat Gushue in last year’s final at Las Vegas.
