James Bye bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing as he became the fifth celebrity to exit the competition.

The EastEnders star, who plays Martin Fowler, squared off against singer and presenter Fleur East, 35, last night after landing in the bottom two.

Both performed their Halloween-themed routines again. But James and pro dancer Amy Dowden failed to build buzz for their Charleston to Bumble Bee, scoring 27 points – while Fleur and Vito Coppola scared up 32 for a salsa to Beyoncé’s Break My Soul.

‘I’ve said this from the very beginning, all I can do is go out there and do my very best. I am dancing against Fleur, I went and did my best, but she is phenomenal,’ gushed James, 38.

‘I’ve had the best time, and I have a friend for life (in Amy). It’s a competition, but you don’t feel like that backstage.’ Amy told him:

‘You came on here to show your boys they can throw themselves into any challenge… you are the best role model they could ever have.’
