An unfortunate end to the beginning of Sean Murphy-Bunting’s 2021 season.
The Tampa Bay defensive back got his right arm caught between Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and fellow Bucs defender Antoine Winfield Jr. in the first quarter of the teams’ Week 1 matchup Thursday night. The arm bent in a way that arms are not supposed to bend. (WARNING: Graphic images below.)

Unsurprisingly, the Bucs ruled Murphy-Bunting out for the remainder of the game.

There were no immediate details on the injury, but Hall of Fame tight end and current Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe weighed about it. He said the injury was reminiscent of the time he dislocated his elbow in 2002.

Unfortunately for Murphy-Bunting — and adding salt to the wound — Lamb’s catch was good for six. The extra point tied the game 7-7. Tampa Bay retook the lead in the second quarter of this meeting between NFC Super Bowl hopefuls on a Tom Brady touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski.
