Buccaneers’ Mike Evans gives away Tom Brady’s 600th TD pass to a fan

As one of the league’s best receivers, Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans is used to catching touchdowns. He came into Sunday’s game vs. the Bears with 65 career TD receptions.

So when he caught a scoring pass from Tom Brady with six seconds left in the first quarter, Evans didn’t think anything of No. 66. He gave the ball to a fan.

Only one problem: it was a milestone touchdown pass for Brady. It was the 600th of his career, making him the first player in NFL history to reach the mark. And now, the ball was in a fan’s hands.

As Evans was sitting on the bench, he was alerted to what he had done. He knew right away he messed up.

That left team staffers needing to go to the fan and recover the ball. According to CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson, the Buccaneers gave the fan another game ball and promised him a signed jersey.

CBS analyst and former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had another, significantly worse, idea for a trade, saying that the fan should have requested to go on a date with Gisele Bundchen, Brady’s wife and a professional model. Once Romo heard what the actual trade was, he said it was a terrible deal and said he thought the date with Bundchen or $1 million would be needed for the fan to “pull the trigger” on giving away the football.
