BSEB 10th Result 2023: Sheikhpura boy topped in BSEB class X, overall pass percentage at 81.04% – Times of India

PATNA: By securing 97.8 per cent, Sheikhpura’s lad Mohd Rumman Ashraf of Islamia High School emerged as the topper of class X, the results of which were announced by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Friday. Of 90 students bagging the top ten rank, 47 of them are boys while 33 are girls, and a total of 10 students have made it in the list are from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya (SAV), Jamui.
In matriculation, the boys outshone the girls by registering a pass percentage of 83.6% while 80.7% of girls cleared the exam. The overall pass percentage was recorded at 81.04%, a 1.16% increase since last year. In 2022, the pass percentage was at 79.88%.
Namrata Kumari of Nirmala Shiksha Bhawan High School, Bhojpur and Gyani Anupama of Project Girls High School, Aurangabad, jointly secured the second rank with 97.2% while Sanju Kumari of High School, Dallu Bigha, Nalanda, Bhawna Kumari of Utkramit Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Yogapati, West Champaran and Jaynanadan Kumar Pandit of PB High School, Lakhisarai jointly shared the third position with 96.8%.

Of 16.1 lakh students who appeared in the class X exam, 13,05,203 succeeded including 6,43,633 girls and 6,61,570 boys. A total of 4,74,615 (36.3%) students passed with first division, 5,11,623 (39.1%) secured second division and 2,99,518 (22.9%) cleared the exam.
Releasing the results, State education minister Professor Chandra Shekhar said the BSEB declared the results of class X in record 31-days and it was the fifth consecutive year that the Bihar Board announced the results before all the education boards across the country.
“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision for women empowerment and efforts being taken by the government in this direction, we are seeing that the girls are doing well in every examination, whether it was intermediate or matriculation. Of six students in top three ranks, four of them are girls. The pass percentage of students also improved when compared to the results of previous years,” he said.
The minister also told the students not to get disheartened over the failure, but work hard to achieve the success. He also advised the parents to encourage their kids.
Board chairman Anand Kishor said several reforms have been done in the state board by adopting modern and innovative technology to upgrade the entire examination system. “The first-of-its-kind of format has been designed and new software developed, which speed up processing of results up to 16 times faster than previous softwares. For the first time, unique identification was given to each students appear in the exam,” he said.
He also announced that the first rank holder would get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a laptop and a kindle e-reader each. “A cash prize of Rs 75,000 each would be given to the second topper and Rs 50,000 each to the third topper. While the students holding fourth to tenth ranks in the class X examination, would get a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each,” the chairman said.
Altogether 16,10,657 lakh students including 8,19,737 girls and 7,90,920 boys wrote class X exam from February 14 to February 22 in two sittings at 1,500 examination centres in Bihar amid tight security arrangement.
