A BRITISH firm says it can fix a pothole in eight minutes for £30 with a new machine.

British motorists are forking out record amounts in repairs due to the appalling state of the roads.

The firm JCB’s PotholePro has pioneered the fightback, fixing more than 23,000 miles worth of roads and taking orders from as far as Australia for its machine.

Closer to home in Coventry, the city council has filled in five times the number of potholes in the last 12 months thanks to JCB’s speedy but long-lasting fix.

Traditional repair methods take far longer and can cost closer to £60 per pothole.

First trialled by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in 2021, JCB’s machine fixed three years’ worth of potholes in just four months.

The firm says it comes with three dedicated attachments to cut, crop and clean.

So, there’s no need for additional specialist equipment or extra manpower, saving time and money.

A great advantage for the operator is that they work entirely from the cab, which has an all-around vision that improves their safety.

The risk of health problems caused by hand/arm vibration from using power tools is eliminated because the processes are automated.

It’s estimated that each local authority needs to spend more than £75million to fix its pothole backlog or carriageway repairs.

Approximately £8.9million was paid out in compensation last to motorists by local authorities after damage caused by poor roads.

And shockingly, between 2009 and 2018, 24 cyclists were killed as a direct result of hitting potholes or road surface defects.

According to research, using traditional methods it will take nine years to clear the backlog of carriage repairs.

It’s estimated £12.6billion worth of carriages repairs are needed across the UK.
