Bill Nighy denies Anna Wintour Met Gala romance rumours

Bill Nighy has denied romance rumours with Anna Wintour.

The Love Actually actor and Vogue editor, both 73, sparked speculation the pair were dating after appearing close at Monday night’s Met Gala.

Nighy linked arms with Wintour as they walked the red carpet at the glitzy ceremony inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA.

Pictures showed the beaming pair posing for pictures as they waved to fashion fans at the gala, in tribute to late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Bill’s team have since clarified that he and Anna are just “friends” and are “not in a relationship”.

Speaking to PEOPLE, his representatives said they “have simply been great friends for two decades”.

“They are not in a relationship,” they confirmed earlier this morning.

At the gala, Anna sparkled in a dazzling Chanel ensemble, featuring a knee-length coat with an elegant floor-length white skirt.

As always, Bill cut a dapper figure in a navy blue suit with a matching tie and his iconic black-rimmed specs.

Monday’s Met Gala was in tribute to Chanel creative designer Lagerfeld.

The German-born designer, who died in 2019, helmed some of the biggest houses in fashion.

He was the subject of this year’s Met Gala theme, “in honour of Karl”.

Many of his signature touches were present on the carpet – including pearls, black and white monochromatic colour palettes, a crisp white shirt and his favourite flower, the camellia.
