Big question about Adele stunt answered

The man who pulled off a once-in-a-lifetime proposal at Adele’s star-studded One Night Only show has lifted the lid on how it all came about.

The couple who got engaged in front of the super A-list crowd at Adele’s exclusive show in Los Angeles have revealed how the once-in-a-lifetime moment came about.

During theOne Night Onlysunset performance at the iconic Griffith Observatory, which aired on Sunday night on Channel 7, Adele introduced Quentin Brunson and hinted that he was about to pull off a major surprise for his girlfriend of seven years, Ashleigh Mann.

“I need every person to be really quiet, all right? If you make a noise, I’m going to kill you,” Adele told the A-list crowd, before Brunson guided a blindfolded Mann to the stage and made his marriage proposal.

It was only afterwards – once they sat down in the front row, and Adele serenaded them with Make You Feel My Love – that a stunned Mann began to realise she was surrounded by some of the most famous people on the planet, including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gordon Ramsay, Lizzo, Drake and Melissa McCarthy.

The couple opened up about the jaw-dropping experience during an interview on FoxFM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick show on Monday morning, admitting they still couldn’t quite believe what had happened.

“Literally, honestly, I thought I was going to throw up. I don’t think we’ll ever come down from this, it’s insane,” Mann told the radio hosts.

Brunson explained that he himself had been kept in the dark about what the actual event was that they were taking part in – and that he’d simply responded to an online call-out offering an “amazing” proposal experience.

“It was a post that I saw online, it was looking for someone who was willing to propose to their girlfriend in an amazing, epic way, at one of the most beautiful places in Los Angeles,” he said.

“But they didn’t tell me it was an Adele special, so I went into this blindly, wanting to do something fun for Ashleigh … and it ended up being way bigger than I ever thought it would be.”

Mann added: “(Quentin) just told me that we were going on a surprise date … so I was like, ‘OK, I’m down for a surprise’ … once the blindfold came into play, I was like, ‘All right, things are getting weird’, but I just went with it – and I guess it was all worth it.”

The couple also revealed the celebrity moments that didn’t make it to our screens – including their onstage chat with the singer herself.

“We actually did have a conversation with Adele on stage, they just didn’t show that portion,” Mann said.

“Afterwards, we were bombarded with a bunch of celebrities, Drake came up to us, and of course, Melissa McCarthy had been sitting next to us the whole time, and Lizzo. And we got to talk to like, Kerry Washington, and Ellen DeGeneres was sitting directly behind us … it was crazy, it was nuts.”

The One Night Only concert was prerecorded as part of a promotional blitz for Adele’s new album, 30, and marked her first performance in more than four years.
