Beats is back with a great-sounding upgrade to its popular Studio Pro headphones with the audio firm promising that these latest cans are their “most impressive over-ear offering yet”. That bold statement is all thanks to a bunch of new features tucked inside the Studio Pros which include improved and fully adaptive Active Noise Cancellation.
This technology is able to continuously monitor the background sounds around you in real-time and create a precisely-tuned filter to cancel it all out. That should mean you only hear your music and nothing else.
Should you feel the need to listen out for traffic on busy city streets or those vital announcements at airports there’s a nifty Transparency mode which then stops the ANC so you feel more in tune with your surroundings.
Clever Spatial Audio is also added for a more immersive surround sound experience with this technology making it feel like the audio is hitting your ears from all directions.
Beats is also promising that its new cans will sound better thanks to custom 40mm drivers that have been engineered for optimal clarity – there’s also near-zero distortion even at high volumes. An integrated digital processor is also tucked inside to help create more balanced audio.
Once fully charged you’ll get around 40 hours of play time and when things run out there’s fast charging via USB-C.
Owners will find a 3.5mm headphone port for plugging into media players and airline seats and they should stay comfy on long-haul flights thanks to UltraPlush leather cushions that surround your ears.
Like most modern cans, there are simple touch controls on the side of the ear cup allowing you to skip tracks and pause content plus they fast pair with both Apple and Android devices.
The Beats Studio Pro are also compatible with Google and Apple’s Find My technology which helps track them down should they get lost. Finally, there are upgraded voice-targeting microphones to give you high-quality call performance.
Fancy a pair? They come in four premium colours, Black, Deep Brown, Navy and Sandstone and include a neat carry case and foldable design. They’ll set you back £349.99 and are available now.
“Beats cemented its cultural legacy with the release of the original Studio headphone in 2008. With Beats Studio Pro, we’ve refined the design and completely reengineered the headphone to bring consumers our most impressive over-ear offering yet,” said Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Beats and Apple Music.
“Studio Pro keeps Beats’ promise of delivering music as the artist intended, continuing our storied heritage as a premium audio brand.”
