Arsenal’s absent star spotted at Madrid theme park during Brentford clash and fans fume

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira posted a photo of himself at a Madrid theme park while his team-mates were opening their Premier League campaign against Brentford. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

But he has not yet found a new club for the 2021/22 campaign and he could have returned to north London.

Mikel Arteta was without several key men, including Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, for the visit to Brentford.

All the while Torreira attended the Parque Warner Madrid, posting a photo on Twitter alongside his family and friends.

He captioned the image: “Enjoying the @ParqueWarner with family and friends!!! Thank you very much for the great attention.”

One Arsenal fan replied: “Bro forgot he had a game today.”

And another added: “Arsenal are playing and you’re tweeting this? Just leave the club already Lucas.”

A third said: “No way he’s tweeting this rn.. we are so finished.”

Torreira has attracted interest from the likes of Lazio this summer and former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged him to leave the Emirates Stadium.

“You’ve got to look at what Torreira has been through,” Campbell told Football Insider.

Football.london claim that Torreira was given extra time off by the Gunners due to his involvement in the Copa America with Uruguay.

The report adds that because Uruguay is on the UK’s red list, Torreira had to travel via another country to avoid quarantining in a hotel for 10 days.
