Aquaman 2 Star Says the Sequel Script is Better Than the First One

The Aquaman sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has recently started filming. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the movie’s star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II teased the story of Aquaman 2.

He said, “I think the script is better than it was in the first one. It gives the actors a lot of good storytelling moments. In Aquaman, we just got a small introduction to Black Manta and to some of his motivations. In this one, I get to exercise and breathe a little bit more. I’m showing some different colors with this one.”

Along with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Temuera Morrison. Aquaman director James Wan is also returning for the sequel. Wan has previously shared a picture of the clapperboard with codename “Necrus” from the sets of Aquaman 2, which hints at the potential plot of the movie. The Lost Kingdom could be a reference to the seven kingdoms of Atlantis, out of which six kingdoms have been revealed.

The seventh kingdom could be the mysterious Necrus, which is another lost underwater city in the DC universe. Unlike other underwater cities, Necrus doesn’t exist in a single location. Instead, it appears in different parts of the ocean at random intervals as Necrus is governed by an alien satellite. It remains to be seen how Necrus and the story of its inhabitants will be explored in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
