Quarantine-free travel returns from today for Britons who have been fully vaccinated. Under the new rules, UK travellers can jet off to amber list countries, with the exception of France, without having to quarantine on their return home.
Greece
UK arrivals are permitted to enter Greece but must abide by measures put in place by authorities.
Those who are not vaccinated must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to travel.
Fully vaccinated travellers must provide evidence of two COVID-19 vaccinated completed at least 14 days before travel.
The FCDO adds: “Greece will also accept proof of recovery from COVID-19 for entry. While the NHS does not provide proof of recovery records, evidence of a positive COVID-19 PCR test result taken between 30 to 180 days of your travel dates can be used.”
Those who can provide proof of either are exempt from quarantine.
However, travellers may face a random COVID-19 test upon arrival.
If this proves positive, they will be required to self-isolate in a Greek Government approved hotel. The cost of this will be covered by the Greek state.
Cyprus
Travellers who can provide proof of two COVID-19 jabs received 14 days or more before departure are able to enter Cyprus.
However, they must obtain and complete a “flight pass” from the Cypriot Government website within 24 hours of departure.
As the UK it categorised as a “red zone” by Cyprus, those who have not been vaccinated must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of travelling.
You must then undergo another PCR test upon arrival at Larnaca or Paphos airports, and remain in self-isolation until the result is issued.
Test results should be available within three hours through the online platform.
Passengers are responsible for covering the cost of both tests.
They must also complete a “flight pass” before travelling.
Malta
Fully vaccinated passengers from the UK will be permitted to enter Malta.
Travellers must be able to show they received both of their jabs at least 14 days prior to arrival.
The Maltese government has recently confirmed that the NHS COVID pass, both in digital and paper form, will be accepted as adequate evidence.
All arrivals must complete a Public Health Travel Declaration Form and Passenger Locator Form.
Morocco
Morocco is permitting UK arrivals to enter if they can provide evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks prior to travel.
However, the nation has not yet confirmed it will accept the UK’s NHS app for travel.
Alternatively, unvaccinated travellers must show evidence of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before boarding.
On arrival, travellers will be asked to present a completed Public Health Passenger form.
Portugal
Britons who have been fully vaccinated are able to enter Portugal without quarantine.
Both doses of the vaccine must have been administered at least 14 days before travel.
Unvaccinated travellers must show evidence of a negative PCR test taken at least 72 hours prior to travel.
They will then face 14 days of quarantine either in their own accommodation or a place designated by the Portuguese health authority.
Passengers will also be subject to a health screening on arrival. Those who have a temperature above 38 degrees Celsius will be required to take a further COVID-19 test and remain at the airport until their result is confirmed.
Germany
From 7 July, the UK is designated as a ‘high-incidence area’, which means that travellers may only enter Germany from the UK if they are fully vaccinated, a German citizen or resident, have immediate family in Germany or have an essential need to travel.
Those who can prove they are fully vaccinated are able to sidestep the 10-day quarantine in place.
However, the German authorities have not yet confirmed whether or not they will accept the NHS Covid app for travel.
