Aljaz Skorjanec’s ‘biggest worry’ about Strictly was going on spin-off show It Takes Two

Professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2013. And now, the Slovenian dancer has revealed that his biggest concern about appearing on the popular BBC One programme had nothing to do with performing live in front of millions of people.

Aljaz has admitted that he was nervous about his first dance routine in front of the nation – a waltz with model and TV star Abbey Clancy – however, he was more worried about what was due to happen after the live show.

He said talking to Zoe Ball on Strictly: It Takes Two filled him with fear.

The ballroom dancer opened up during a chat with his wife Janette Manrara and their co-star and fellow pro Giovanni Pernice for their Twist and Shout podcast.

“When we got the job, my biggest worry wasn’t actually the teaching and the performing side of it and the dancing side of it,” he said of his role on Strictly.

“My biggest worry – of the whole job – was It Takes Two.

“The ten minute interview once a week… that to me was so nerve-wracking,” he explained.

Giovanni, who was born and raised in Italy, completely understood why his colleague was so worried.

Earlier this month, Jannette and Aljaz celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary and ten years as a couple.

The pair, who tied the knot on July 15, 2017, marked the occasion with a romantic getaway.

“I could not have asked for a better soul mate!

“I love you so much!” Jannette wrote alongside a wedding photo, in view of her 441,000 followers on Instagram.

The couple stayed at London’s Shangri La Hotel, enjoying sky dining, a couples massage and afternoon tea.

Both posted pictures from their retreat in the capital online.

One snap showed the pair in a warm embrace by the swimming pool, while another captured the dancer in a bathtub with an epic view of the city.

Later this summer, Aljaz will be back in the dance studio ahead of the launch of the 2021 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
