AISSMS IOIT awarded ‘A+’ grade by NAAC and autonomy by UGC – Times of India

PUNE: AISSMS Institute of Information Technology (IOIT) College has received an ‘A +’ grade in cycle-II of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). To add one more feather to the cap, the college has achieved an autonomous status from UGC and is now included in the list of autonomous colleges of Savitribai Phule Pune University, a statement issued by the college on Tuesday said.

Principal Dr.P.B Mane said, “The institute scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.40 on 4 point scale. It is reviewed by NAAC in accordance with the revised scheme, which has made the entire accreditation procedure even more rigorous and tough”.

With the attainment of autonomous status, the college is now allowed to start skill-based and employment-oriented courses. UGC has given this status to the college for a period of 10 years. Achieving autonomous status is a milestone in the progressive history of the college.
“With the autonomous status, the college will now be able to independently create employment-oriented courses, collaborate with foreign universities, conduct examinations and strengthen the college’s ‘i-Connect’ initiative to bridge the industry and academic gap,” said Mane.

The statement added that, this assessment helps the society, students, parents, and industry to get information about the educational quality, research, innovation, various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, social commitment, teaching-learning methods adopted by the college. Curriculum, teaching-learning methods, research and development, innovation, infrastructure, student-teacher participation, innovative initiatives, leadership and management, alumni participation and personality development are points examined by NAAC.
