MANILA, Philippines—Victor Wembanyama is looking to consult with his family and agents despite already being the consensus first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

The highly touted prospect said he did not have enough time to thoroughly think of his future steps due to his devotion to the Liga Nacional de Basquet (LNB) Finals.

“My mind is really focused on these finals for the last couple of weeks and it’s now going to go so quickly. There’s a lot going on and I have a lot to plan with my family and my agents,” Wembenyama said in a recent interview.

“The draft is in a week so there’s a lot going through my mind, so I just feel lucky to be able to live through all this.”

Despite being swept by Monaco in three games, Wembanyama ended his LNB stint for the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 with a stellar outing of 22 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in their Game 3 loss, 92-85.

The 7-foot-3 center may not have won a title in his last year with the Metropolitans 92 but he did secure the season MVP after posting 21.6 points, 10.4 boards and 3.1 blocks per outing.

One of the things that Wembenyama may need consultation for is his decision to play in the NBA Summer League.

Without saying much, Wembanyama affirmed his participation in the preseason tilt but just “a little bit.”

However, a report from the San Antonio Spurs stated that Wembanyama playing in the Summer League is “unlikely to happen.”

The Spurs have the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.
