In news that will surprise absolutely nobody, Adele has smashed records and hit number one with her fourth album, 30.

As expected, 30 has sailed to number one in the UK charts, and broke a number of pretty impressive records while it was at it.

30’s first week chart sales totalled 261,000, beating ABBA’s Voyage (204,000 chart sales) to score the biggest opening week of 2021 for an album.

It’s also the biggest opening week for an album in four years, since Ed Sheeran’s Divide in 2017 – and is the biggest opener for a female solo artist since… er, Adele released 25 in 2015.

The woman is an empire all on her own.

30 is the most streamed album of the week, with 55.7million plays across its 12 tracks, and is the week’s biggest seller on vinyl too, with 16,700 copies sold.

Adele now has seen all four of her studio albums reach number one, which is – you guessed it – another record for a female act.

If the 33-year-old wasn’t content with all of that, she’s also dominating the singles charts.

Easy On Me remains at number one for the sixth consecutive week, becoming her longest running number one on the UK singles chart – overtaking Someone Like You, which managed five weeks.

Oh My God has entered the charts at number two, while I Drink Wine came in at number four.

Ed Sheeran had to settle with just the two songs in the top five, with Shivers at three and Bad Habits at five.

Ed’s Equals is also playing second fiddle to Adele over on the album charts, with ABBA’s Voyage, Oasis’s Knebworth 1996 and Raise The Roof from Robert Plant and Alison Krauss rounding out the top five.
