Aaron Rodgers trade rumors: Von Miller believes Broncos front office can make deal happen

Von Miller believes that the Broncos are in a can’t-lose situation at quarterback.

The former Super Bowl MVP discussed Denver’s quarterback situation at MLB’s celebrity softball All-Star Game on Sunday. On one hand, he’s comfortable with Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater, the top two passers the team has on the roster.

On the other hand, if Aaron Rodgers becomes available, he believes that Denver’s front office will be well-positioned to make a run at the reigning NFL MVP.

“First and foremost, I’m comfortable with Drew, I’m comfortable with Teddy. G.P. (George Paton) and John Elway, if A-Rod is out there for us to get him, those are the two guys to have on the job,” Miller said to Mike Klis of 9News. “John Elway, he’s done a great job of working the big-time guys before — Peyton (Manning) and DeMarcus (Lawrence) and Aqib (Talib) — all these other guys. So if there’s a guy to be had, G.P. and John Elway are the two to put on it, if it can be done.”

TIMELINE: Everything you need to know about Aaron Rodgers’ offseason drama

It’s worth noting that the players Miller noted all came to Denver as free agents. The team would have to trade for Rodgers amid his holdout from the Packers. So, that’s a key difference here.

Nonetheless, the Broncos should be in the Rodgers sweepstakes, and he would certainly be a nice fit in Denver. The team made the playoffs the past five seasons, but they have a rock-solid roster including a stacked receiving corps featuring Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam.

Rodgers could maximize production from those young talents. Adding him to the fold would make the Broncos a true Super Bowl contender, despite playing in a division that features Patrick Mahomes.

Soon enough, we’ll see what happens with Rodgers. He said he will “figure things out in a couple weeks.”

But even if Rodgers doesn’t come to Denver, Miller is still confident that Bridgewater and Lock will be able to lead the Broncos to victories in 2021.

“They’ve impressed the hell out of me, and impressed the hell out of everybody during OTAs,” Miller said. “So I’m super excited for those guys. Another year for Drew Lock, I think this will be the time for him to turn it on. So either way we go, it’s looking bright for us.”
