Tottenham star Kane ‘tells team-mates he’s leaving’ as Man Utd face scrap

Tottenham star Harry Kane has told team-mates he’ll be leaving the club this summer, reports say. The England international has produced the goods once again this term despite a nightmare season for the north London giants. And a departure now appears to be on the cards, with Manchester United and Real Madrid among those interested in the 29-year-old.

According to Cadena Ser, Kane ‘will not continue’ at Tottenham after a shambolic campaign under managers such as Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

And it’s claimed the England international has ‘told team-mates’ of his intentions to leave and pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

Kane will be allowed to leave providing a suitable offer arrives, amid suggestions he could be sold for a price between £70million and £90m this summer.

It’s said Tottenham are ‘receptive to selling him this year’ because, if they don’t, they run the risk of losing their talisman for free in 2024.

Kane has apparently been offered to Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants ‘considering the option’.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

An intermediary has touched base with Los Blancos to gauge the mood, with Real forward Karim Benzema entering the twilight years of his career at the age of 35.

And that means Manchester United are facing a battle when it comes to landing the Tottenham star this summer.

Erik ten Hag has made Kane his No 1 target as he seeks an upgrade on Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst, who have blown hot and cold this term.

And Bayern Munich are also in the mix to land the Spurs striker, too.

The Bundesliga giants could end the campaign without a single trophy to their name, having crumbled since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel.

Kane would bring a potency to their frontline that has been sorely missing this season.

But with the Tottenham star likely to want to pursue his dream of becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer, that gives United an edge.

There’s been talk of the Red Devils potentially making an early move for Kane as they look to avoid a summer saga.

However, Spurs won’t let him go without a fight and their preference would be to sell their star man abroad instead.

Speaking at the start of the month, meanwhile, Teddy Sheringham insisted Kane would turn United ‘into a different animal’ in the event of any possible transfer.

He told Lord Ping: “If Harry Kane were to join United, then of course it would make them a better team and would bridge that gap between where they are at the moment and competing for the Premier League title next season.

“United are close – they’ve already won the League Cup this season and have a place in the FA Cup Final to look forward to.

“If you add Harry Kane to that team, suddenly it starts to look like a different animal.”

On his own experiences of swapping Tottenham for United, he said: “I joined United because I felt that Tottenham were not going to allow me to compete for trophies.

“I didn’t think the club were going to bring in the players that would have enabled us to challenge for the biggest prizes.

“Harry has got to look at the situation at the club and ask himself the same questions that I did.

“If he doesn’t think that the club are going to be able to bring in players that would see them competing, then I don’t think there’s a single Tottenham fan that would begrudge him the opportunity to win trophies with another club.”
