Do Dogs and Cats Reflect Our Personality? L.Graves, Epsom College
Many people categorise themselves as either a cat or a dog person, maybe you are undecided. But what is less known is that your favourite of the two may be a reflection of your personality.
Cat Personality vs Dog Personality
If you consider yourself a cat person, your personality may consider yourself more of an introvert. This can be simply because activities relating to dogs are more social, whereas cats have fewer social ones. When you own a cat, you don’t need to leave your house. Whereas owning a dog requires you to be sociable, leave the house and you are bound to encounter people who want to interact with your dog. This may be why extroverted people gravitate towards dogs.
I asked 21 people weather they were a dog or cat person, and then weather they were an extrovert or introvert.
As shown by the data it clearly shows that no one who likes cats is an extrovert. However, there were a few people who were introverts and prefer dogs, but the majority of those have a dog themselves, and not a cat. 100% of the people who said they were an extrovert preferred dogs, so maybe extrovertes are a clear indicator of who likes dogs, but cats relate to people who are more in-between or undecided. So, no you cannot categorically decide whether someone is extroverted or introverted based of their preference of a dog or cat, but it can be a good indicator of someone’s personality.
