Elanga and McTominay break silence on Ten Hag arrival

Manchester United duo Anthony Elanga and Scott McTominay insist they are both fully focused on impressing their new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has effectively already started work as the new United manager this week after he took charge of former club Ajax for the last time at the weekend. Ten Hag is set for a busy first summer in charge at Old Trafford and will need to get to work quickly if he is to get his squad in shape ahead of the early start to the next Premier League season.

Elanga and McTominay both hope to form a key part of the squad under the former Ajax manager, and they have both been doing their research ahead of meeting him for the first time.

Ferdinand rates chances of Phillips to Manchester United transfer

Rio Ferdinand has recalled the time he was warned by police not to return to Leeds having made the switch from Elland Road to Manchester United – a move Kalvin Phillips could be set to make himself this summer.

The Manchester Evening News reported last month that United were working on a deal to bring Phillips to Old Trafford. It is understood that Leeds are confident of keeping hold of their star midfielder and are not expecting a club to match their valuation of the player.

The rivalry between Leeds and United is one of the most intense in the country. Ferdinand believes that Phillips is unlikely to make the same move he did back in 2002, particularly given the fact he was sent a warning following his Old Trafford switch.
