WWE superstar Shotzi was seen shaving off her trademark green hair on SmackDown, but there’s a poignant reason far behind any wrestling storyline.

The star is embroiled in an intense rivalry with Damage CTRL after Iyo Sky and Bayley recently attacked her backstage with the latter chopping off a chunk of her hair.

The duo have been carrying the prize in Iyo’s Money In The Bank briefcase, but now Shotzi has gone a step further on Friday night’s episode of SmackDown.

In storyline terms, the star shaved her head to show she has control against the villainous duo, proving she will go to any length to take away the upper hand from them.

Bayley looked scared by the actions Shotzi is willing to take, and it’s a fascinating development for a character that’s been in need of a true storyline to sink her teeth into.

However, there is also a very real reason the star has changed her look, with her sister Shawn currently battling cancer and going through chemotherapy.

Shotzi’s sibling has been battling the disease for months now, who has undergone surgery and is facing a hepatectomy to have a portion of her liver removed.

The SmackDown star has shaved her head in solidarity with her sister, which she confirmed in a simple but heartfelt social media post after her appearance on Friday night’s show.

‘I love you sister! You are my inspiration,’ she wrote on Instagram, while there is a GoFundMe set up to help with treatment.

‘Shotzi shaving her head as a show of support for her sister battling cancer…powerful thing,’ wrote one viewer on Twitter, while another added: ‘This goes beyond wrestling. That’s just being a loving sister. Respect to @ShotziWWE.’

And a third fan tweeted: ‘shotzi shaving her head for her sister who’s battling cancer, God i love her sm (sic)’
