It may be the AFL off-season but one of the league’s most important events is upon us — the AFL national draft.

All 18 clubs are chasing their next superstar and some childhood dreams are about to realised.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 AFL Draft.

When is the AFL Draft?

The first round of the national draft will be held on Wednesday night, with all remaining selections to made on Thursday night.

The rookie and pre-season drafts will be held online at 3pm (AEDT) on Friday.

What time is it on?

The draft will kick off at 7pm (AEDT) on both Wednesday and Thursday nights.

How can I watch it?

The draft will be broadcast on Fox Footy (channel 504), or you can stream it on Kayo.

Where is it being held?

Due to Covid restrictions, the draft will take place virtually from the AFL Review Centre (ARC), with all 18 clubs submitting their picks from corporate boxes at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium.

Top Victorian prospects will attend an event at the London Tavern in Melbourne, while hopefuls from South Australia and Western Australia will tune in from the Cathedral Hotel and RAC Arena respectively.

Who are the top draft prospects?

South Australian product Jason Horne-Francis is the hot favourite to be chosen by North Melbourne with the No. 1 pick.

Father-son prospects Nick Daicos (Collingwood) and Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs) are expected to be bid on early.

The GWS Giants are all but certain to pick midfielder Finn Callaghan with pick three, with Mac Andrew set to be recruited by the Gold Coast Suns with pick five.

Josh Rachele, Josh Ward, Jye Amiss, Josh Gibcus and Neil Erasmus are likely to round out the top 10.
