1 – Kim Cattrall
Perhaps most famous for her iconic role as Samantha in the Sex and the City franchise, Kim Cattrall was actually born in Liverpool in 1956.
The star only lived in Liverpool for three months as an infant before her family emigrated to Canada.
In 2009, Kim appeared in an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? in which she traced her family back, discovering her grandfather was a bigamist.
2 – Jamie Dornan
Currently starring in BBC’s The Tourist, many people know Jamie Dornan from his role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey films.
Because of his famous role, many assumed Jamie was American like Christian Grey, but Jamie hails from Northern Ireland.

3 – Elizabeth Taylor
Screen siren Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most famous stars of Classic Hollywood, but the actress was born in Hampstead, London.
Taylor was born in London in 1932, however as her parents saw World War 2 approaching the UK, they relocated to California in 1939.
She already had American citizenship through her parents, who were both American.
4 – Jerry Springer
Jerry Springer has a birth story so dramatic, it could feature on an episode of his talk show.
Springer was born in Highgate tube station while it was in use as a bomb shelter during World War 2.
His mother was hiding from German bombing when her son Gerald (Jerry) was born.
The Springer family lived in East Finchley, North London, until Jerry was four years old when they emigrated to New York.
5 – Christian Bale
Method actor and star of American Psycho and The Dark Knight, Christian Bale has received critical acclaim for his ability to become his characters, often undergoing dramatic physical transformations.
So convincing are Bale’s performances, some may not realise the actor is British.
Bale was born in Wales in 1974, his family later moved to Bournemouth.
6 – Kiefer Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland’s Canadian parents were both actors working in Britain at the time of Kiefer’s birth.
The 24 frontman, and his twin sister Rachel Sutherland, were born in Paddington in 1966, and hold dual British and Canadian citizenship.
7 – Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts often plays Australian and American parts, but this actress grew up in Kent, South East England and Wales.
Naomi was born in Shoreham, Kent, in 1968.
Her mother was an antiques dealer and theatre designer, and her father was a sound engineer for Pink Floyd before dying when Naomi was aged just seven years old.
When she was 14 years old, her family relocated to Sydney, Australia.

Superman actor Henry Cavill reached international fame when he donned the famous red cape for the role of Superman in the 2013 film Man of Steel.
Taking on such an iconic American role, many assume Cavill is also American, but he’s from Jersey in the Channel Islands.

Borat actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is a master of different accents, adopting an array of voices to bring his comic creations to life.
When he’s not in character, this 50-year-old actor is a Londoner.
His mother was born in Israel, where his German Jewish grandparents immigrated.

Hayley Atwell is best-known for her portrayal of Agent Peggy Carter in the blockbuster Avengers film series.
This British actress was born in London but holds dual British-American citizenship as her father is American.
Although many of her early roles were on British television, many think Atwell is American since she relocated to Los Angeles in 2015.

The star of the OC, Mischa Barton was born a long way away from Orange County, in London, England.
Barton’s mother is Irish, so the actress holds dual Irish-British citizenship.
Barton’s family lived in the UK until she was five when they relocated to New York.

Watching him playing his famous role as Californian Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy, you’d never guess Charlie Hunnam’s native Geordie accent.
Hunnam was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1980, and his family later moved to Melmerby in Cumbria.
Hunnam was also briefly cast in Jamie Dornan’s acclaimed role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades movie but pulled out due to scheduling conflicts.
