10 questions all big fans of Fawlty Towers should know the answers to

Despite only consisting of 12 episodes Fawlty Towers is one of the most legendary sitcoms in British history. The first series aired on BBC2 in 1975 followed by the second season four years later in 1979.

Actor and comedian John Cleese played the lead role of Basil Fawlty who runs a simple hotel in the seaside town of Torquay along with his wife Sybil, played by Prunella Scales. Although only in a short amount of time, Fawlty Towers saw all sorts of drama from death to falling victim to a conman, welcoming strange guests, and many many jokes.

Basil was so unlikeable it meant we all adored him even more! The hotel owner is not only incompetent and arrogant, but he’s also absolutely comedy gold. Remember when he thought he killed one guest after feeling him out of date kippers for breakfast!

We all loved Sybil’s elegance and quick wit, and confused waiter Manuel (Andrew Sachs) made the running of the hotel even more chaotic, even if he was cheap to pay!

So 47 years on from when the first episode aired, can you recall the minor details from the comedy show? Can you remember why Sybil once found herself in the hospital or what salad the famous American guest was obsessed with?
